The conference “Tradizione e conservazione: archivi roveretani tra antico e moderno” (Tradition and Preservation: Rovereto Archives between Ancient and Modern) will be held online on March 1st and 2nd, 2021. The meeting is organized by the Interuniversity Research Center for “Studies on Tradition” and the Civic Library “Girolamo Tartarotti” of Rovereto, under the patronage of Editori Laterza and the Dioguardi Foundation. The book and archival collections of the city of Rovereto represent a material of extraordinary importance for the history of Italian and European culture and, in particular, for the tradition of classical studies.
The conference aims at drawing the attention of both specialists and the public to these collections: from the 15th century manuscripts that hand down texts inspired by Aesop’s fables to the unpublished papers of great scholars and protagonists of the Italian culture of the last century, such as Concetto Marchesi, Mario Untersteiner, Federico Halbherr, Ettore Romagnoli and Duilio Cambellotti.
The works will open in the afternoon of Monday, March 1, with a dialogue between Luciano Canfora and Mario Isnenghi on Concetto Marchesi, entitled “Il latinista sovversivo”.
The University of Trento, which will manage the online connection, will collect registrations for access to the Zoom platform, on which the event will take place, by 2 p.m. on March 1. On the YouTube channel of the Department of Humanities and Philosophy it will be possible, for simple listeners, to follow the conference in live streaming.
The program is available in pdf format and on the web page of the Interuniversity Center.
